Alrighty!

The week has been quite okay.. Really gotta get my projects going at a faster pace though.

Its really funny, on how people around me are doing. A friend of mine, Sel, is already coming back to Singapore.. Atikah's doin fine in Aus as well.. Debbie's in Aus too! Well.. Almost all who went overseas to study are female.. Why?

Cuz guys simply need to do National Service. Whahahahahhaa..
I'm kinda glad I saved two years on that.

Speaking of which, I wanna continue my studies after I get my bacholer degree.
Wanna do a masters degree but hmm. I really like to stay in Singapore.

THere's my hobbies in Singapore... My bands, my friends and khakis.. My cycling sessions..
The late night drive out for supper. Man! I miss those things!
Its just different in the UK.

But then, life is so much less stressful here in the UK.
The pace of life is slower, and people aren't really the workaholic type.
Oh wells!

If i could, I wanna pursue music here in the UK. And be a professional musician who specialises in smooth jazz. Big band really got me motivated to pursue music.
BUsiness is just ya know, boring. Music takes the joy of the moment, a new feeling that gets fresher every day.

Oh wells. Being a jazz musician in singapore ain't gonna let me live comfortably.
So yea, guess i'd have to stick with boring and dry business related stuffs.
But nope, i'm not gonna give up on music.
Its just something thats not on my priority list.

I don't wanna stay in Singapore. Its like a frog living in a well.
One good example would be a certain musician i know of in band back in SG. This guy plays well. And knows jazz. I thought he was good..

But here's the thing. I go for big band practice every tuesday. And guys, students, of my age simply just plays better than that SG dude in every aspect.

We played Straight no Chaser, Take the "A" train, Night in Tunisia on practices..
MAN!! THOSE WERE SOME FAMOUS JAZZ PIECES!
And they managed to play it so well.. Harmonics were good, tone was superb, volume was a blast.
Jazz improvisation was astounding..
WEE~~ Even the conductor joined in the fun to jam as well.
If only i could do something like this for a job!

Okay. I'm so gonna get lessons on the fundamentals of big band and jazz music. Wanna learn the scales, the blues and everything.

Oh wells.

Oh yea, dearie lyn, (this is gonna sound so naggy) please do take care of yourself..
You just skipped lunch, and that aint good.
*hugs*

Smell you laters.

Alrighty. I know that i haven't updated my blog for some time.

Well, yea lyn, I'm lazy!!! Whahahaa..
But anyways, here are my updates on how i'm doing here.

Right now, its -4 deg outside. Really cold. Brr.. I just came back from CK's place not too long ago.
Cars are all covered in frost, and my hands get stiff and numb if I stayed out too long.
Oh wells. I guess winter is here after all.

Sometimes, I prefer my sunny island Singapore.
Lyn, its nice to see that you've updated your blog. Hehe. Dearie smellypoo, I'm glad that you're doing fine back in Singapore. You ar.. Always making me worry bout you. Since I left, you had complained abt sore eye, bad tummy, headache, itchy rashes, morning flu, sore throat... etc.

CANNOT LIKE THAT ONE LO!

I'll stuff you up with vitamins when i get back to SG. Hide them in your mee soto/rebus or sumtin.

ALrighy... Anyways, I had a day of coaching with Dave today. Ghim and I went for badminton coaching by Dave, yeap. Just for info, Dave is UK ranked 34 i think.
Professional eh.. Hehe. Ghim paid for me as well.

Did a lot of footwork and swing techniques. Almost died with his training. Horribly exhausting.
Oh yea, I broke the strings off martin's racket yesterday. Its the second one i broke in 1 year.
Haiz.

Well, the good thing is, Dave commented that I have a very fast and hard smash.. *HIGH FIVE* But the bad thing is, the strings sometimes can't take that kinda pressure and will snap eventually. Its a tradeoff i guess. I'd rather be on the offense for doubles games. YEA!! So i can smash all i want! WEE!

Okay, with regards to music.. I recently joined the Uni of Salford Big Band.
Its not a big band as in numbers, but really just the playing style.
There are about 20 members, and we play jazz, blues, pop and a li rock.
All of them are final year music students i think.
I feel so crap there, but yea, I'm so gonna learn from them.
They use jazz licks, blues scales the the like in the pieces we play. Adlib, improvisation.. etc.
Their solo adlib is way wicked!!! YEA!!! Ultra high altissimo, velvety growls and bluesy notes.
I totally wanna play like them. Yeaps, yeaps.
Speaking of which, I bought a new mouthpiece just for Big Band.
Well, I can also use it in the long run depending on what kinda music i play.
Yea. I bought the JodyJazz ESP Alto 6 Metal MPC.
It costs me around 218 pounds.
That works out to be abt S$650 bucks. Its made from a bar of high quality metal,
and outerlayered with 24k gold. Had a secondary reed for volume and brightness..
MAN!! I just simply love my new mpc... Definately worth the money.

For all those who dunno.. A mouthpiece is a detachable piece of accesory that is needed in order to play the sax. You blow on it to produce the sound that goes thru your instrument.

Thinking back, I sold my old Selmer Bundy Saxophone for 150 bucks. A saxophone accessory costing 4 times the price of a saxophone i sold. Simply saying, I sold my sax too cheap!!! WHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Anyways, my ref 54 alto costs abt 8,000 anyways.. So i guess it wouldn't hurt buying something that shapes the sound for 650 bucks yea?
Mum, dad, i can use it for a long time.. Dun scream at me ar...
If i had the choice back then , i would have taken music.
Then again.. How can a muscian earn enough in Singapore's business environment? Earn enough to let my parents retire happily and provide my family with all the comfortable things they deserve? Oh wells. Music as a hobby is so much a thing dear to me..

Okok.. Gonna go rest alr. Updates laters.. Nitez. XD
ps. honeybao.. drink more water.
