Played badminton for 2 straight days. Its a total of 4.5 hours of workout. My legs are tired. My back is tried. My arm is tired. And my wrists are tired too. But I'm bloggin! I just read one of my friend's blog. Saw how's she picking up her life. Hehe. Its comforting to know someone you care about is getting on better day by day. Keep it up ! :) Here's one on women( it was there was I flipped open the bible, heh).

Proverbs 31: 30
Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the Lord should be praised.

Anyways, today's a free day. My fridays are off. So i have 3 days till Monday to rest. Well, i have to get the most rest i need to get my body back into tip top form again. Its just dead boring here. The shops close early. Pretty much nothing is open after 5. The least you'll get is the supermarkets. Cause people do need to get groceries after work, ya know. Yea. When it gets dark, scallys(ang mo hooligans) flood the place.

Been making new friends while I'm here. Most of them are BBCs. British Born CHinese ! Yea. Its rare to see Singaporeans here. I've only met one other in the CHinese Society.

My room now needs cleaning up. Need to empty the trash, sort out my notes, tidy up the clothings. and make my bed. Man. My muscles are so tired, that these chores become tiresome.

Well, I gotta do them anyways.

Talking about chores. The white brits here don't really do housework. Thats an overstatement. They don't wash their utensils until they need them again. The pot of unfinished baked beans have been there for 3 days. I couldn't stand it anymore so I clean all of their stuff yesterday night. Man. I'm so tired and still have to clear up their mess. Doesn't the weird smell coming from the kitchen bother them?

Had pasta when I came back from badminton yesterday. Tasted not bad. Need to buy some pasta add-ons, like spices and grated cheese. Thinking of which now, I'm so not gonna walk to precinct. Thats the shopping mall.

Too tired. Whahahah. Or simply too lazy to move my legs.

I'll spend some time to read my bible now. Haven't been reading it for these two weeks. Bad me. Bobby and gareth are prolly gonna scream at me for that. No worries dudes! I still pray everyday. We're here because of God anyways. Give thanks. God Bless you guys too.
HE gave and blessed my family approximately $200 000 of free education, knowing that we couldn't possibly be able to fork out that kinda money. God bless my family ! ! Hehe. Bless my dad. Get him to stop smoking. And leonard foo too. Hate it when people i care about are killing themselves.

MM.. My whole body's killing me. Played badminton yesterday and one of the BBCs came up with an endurance gameplay. Ran around the perimeter of the court, taking turns to hit while you're still running. Only can be played with 3 or more people. Hit the shuttlecock, and run to the other side sticking to the perimenter. If u don't catch the shuttle, you lose a point. Each of us will start with 3 points. 3 times missing and out. 5 of us played two games of that. The frst game I missed 3 shots. Out. After which, in the end, only this badminton professional BBC guy and I made it. Wow. Really tough training. I continued to play really competitive badminton with them. Hehe. My legs now aren't really "walkable" now.

Hehe. After that, 3 of 5 of us went to get some lunch, since we haven't really eaten a proper lunch. Went to subway, and had ourselves a fulfiling meal. I had a footlong cheese steak with extra cheese. Tasted so good, I finished it without even feeling full. Its different from the ones in Singapore. Made it a meal, so i had cookies and a drink too. Shiok.

We were talking about gals during lunch in Subway, chatting away with KK , Keung, and I, trying to find a solution to Keung's girl situation. Hehe. He's nice guy, always driving us around in his hatchback. He deserves a really good gal. Yeaps.

We practically talked about girls the whole time through. They asked me about me, but heyhey, I can't put this here. Its SECRET. Whahhahaa.

Anyways, while we were chatting non stop, this really unexpected event happened just outside Subway. On the other side of the glass panel, were this mob of protesters accompanied by hoards of police on foot and on horses. They were protesting about something concerning Tony Blair. Whahhaaa. Weird stuff goes on in Manchester. LOL. I was quick enough to go outside to take a picture, and here it is..

You can see how many policemen are there..

Well, you can enlarge the picture by clicking on it.

Interesting eh?

The nearest you can protest in Singapore is Batam.

So damn lame, the singporean govenment.
Dun even think they allow the freedom of speech.

Means that I could get in trouble for calling the government lame. Whahaha. Thats really stupid. OK ! Thats gonna be it. I'm going to school in probably half an hour's time.. Time to get ready. Cheers ! Its 11.12 am now.. Heh, i have another game of badminton laters. :)

Wednesday ! Things are done differently here in Manchester. I applied for an International Student Account with HSBC online since the 19th of September, and they only started to sent me a letter yesterday. It took them a week to mail a letter. It should arrive in a couple of days time.

On monday, that was two days ago, my BBC friend Keung, my sister's China friend, my sister, and I went to a Chinese Association gathering at OPUS. Opus is a a club, kinda like those you would have in Singapore. It all the same, right? Anyways, we stayed there for 2 hours or so, almost getting bored to death. They played music that wasn't really appealing to our ears. Hmm. It was a fun sight though. Looking at CHinese from all over. China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and British Born Chinese.

Lectures started this week. Well, I just came back from the Uni. Just had a principles of marketing lecture. Lecture halls are called theatres, and it houses around 300 pple. Forgot to take a picture of that. Hehe.

Went to play pool yesterday. With Keung and some other locals. Managed to beat the locals but Keung was just too good. He started the first round and was left with the black ball. Managed to only pot one ball in before he got the black ball. Darn. 3 turns and gameover.

We were supposed to play badminton, but we went there too late. It stops at 7, and we went at 7. We got the wrong day. Should be thurdays, that is, when it opens till 9.

Since I'd been here, in Salford, Manchester, I had to buy my own stuff, do my own groceries, and cook my own meals. Back in Singapore, so many thing I took for granted. Noodles are just there in the kitchen, food readily available. Well, its a drastic change here. Either I figure out which food is easy to cook and go to the precinct to get them or I starve and eat air.
Hehe.

Bought a toaster yesterday. For only 4.5 Quid. Thats equal around 14 bucks. CHEAP ! Its brand new too. Bought the famous local crisps, Walker crisps. Well, crisps are just potato chips. But here, they call it crisps. Hm. Maybe they just plain lazy to pronouce 4 Syllables. "Po-Ta-To Chips", Versus "Crisps". Yea, crisps are easier to say. Even the pringles here look different.

Oh well. Here's a picture of the place that I'm staying at.

I'm living on the 6th storey. Yeaps. One of the units of the right side.

Its a cloudy day ain't it. Heh heh. Colder today too.

Its 14 degrees. COlder.. Brr.

Singapore has twice that temprature.

Internet was down for two days, and the two were the most excruciating. Couldn't check my mails, couldn't chat with everyone. Sigh. As if it wasn't boring enough. Can't even play my games. Cause they're all online based.

Nevertheless, I went to find things to do. Had a picnic with my sis and one of her chinese friend in my sis's room. Heh. Told some ghost stories. Why are all girls afraid of ghosts and such stuff? Hehe. Anyways, we made bubble tea and had McCoy Chips and gummy. Also made popcorn.

I've almost gotten used to this place, yeap. Oh yar, here's a picture of the view from my room.

Yeap ! This is the view of manchester. As you can see, there's not many tall buildings. Very different from singapore. This was taken with a 11 megapixel camera. Hehe. Cost me only 300 bucks. But the focal capability of the lens ain't very good. Oh well. Its a camcorder too though.

Hmm. Now here's my webcam's quality. Hehe.
Hey hey, there's a really cool handsome dude right here. --->

Wow.. He's really cute eh. -------->

Heh heh.

Sigh. I'm thinking of band again. I really miss band. Really do. Its 11 am here now, 25th of September. Its just one day till the 26th.

The 26th.... The day that I put my heart to love. Oh well.

Jeslyn ! Better not let me catch you being depressed again.

Better to live out my life joyfully. Everyone should. Heh heh. :) SMILESZ

Saturday, September 23, 2006

Just came back a while ago. Went to the town in manchester city with some new friends. Keung, a British Born Chinese(BBC) and Eric, a hong kong fella. Played pool with these two fella, and yea, they were darn good, especially the honky. Man. Or do i just suck at pool. Heh. Can't play pool for nuts.

Hm.. Went there by car. Keung stays in the same building as me, but his home is further south. North wales i think. He drives a citroen, and I must say, he's a darn good driver. His car is a two door, 1.1 litre dark blue hatchback kinda car. Well, here's the good part. He accelerates and changes his gears so smoothly and fast, it feels like it has a 2.5 litre engine. Yea. No kiddin. He's GOOD. He tried drifting before, and got caught by the british police. HEHEH. What a major bummer.

Paid 5 quid for the pool membership. For all of you who dunno, quid is the slang that they use instead of pounds. 1 pound = 1 quid. Pretty much the same thing. Paid a total of 9 pounds for today's game of pool. 9 x 2.8 = S$25.2
Its sick. The exchange rate.
I've calculated. I can only spend 12 quid a day. Yea. Gotta start being thrifty.

After that, we went to eat at a hong kong restaurant/cafe. Had char shu udon. Cost me 5 quid. Got a can of coke too. That another 1.2 quid. 6.2 quid = S$17.36

I HATE THE CURRENCY.

On the way back to the car, this beggar asked keung for money. We ignored him. Can't he get a job? I know I should at give him some coins as a Christian to show love for people less fortunate than me, but wouldn't that encourage him to beg for more? If everyone stop giving people like him money, he would find work to do to earn his keep, instead of relying on the pity of others. Anyways, that fella labelled keung "noddy". Dunno what the crap it means.

Did i mention? Keung has a BB gun. Its a total replica of an MP5. damn cool. It has a scope, that can be mounted on the real thing too. DAMN COOL. One of the stuff that singapore will never allow. Ya can't show it in public in the UK though. Might get shot by the police. But hey, its legal to own this kinda toy here. Its loud, and it shoots little plastic balls that usually has a velocity of 200 -300 metres a second. Painful when hit, but doesn't pierce the skin.

If singapore would allow these toys, I would buy. They have sniper rifles too. Cost around 800 pounds though. With all the modifications and add-ons, prolly will cost ya 1100 pounds = S$3080 .

Man. Imagaine owning ur own sniper rifle.
THey use these toys to play this game called airsoft. The plastic bullets cut thru air, but it ain't really soft. LOL. Go check it out.

Its Friday. And I've nothing on. I don't have a tele in my room. Besides, you need a license to watch TV. And it ain't cheap. Nope, no TV. I promised my mom that I would delete my games on my computer. Looking at the cirsumstances now, I don't think I will. MAN ! ITS DEAD BORING HERE.

Back in Singapore, my friends and I would go cycling at night, skate to the prata shop at 2 in the morning, go night cycling and many other activities that would last the whole day through. Even at home, I could play my xbox, with xbox live, play the computer, and watch TV. I could go out everyy other day, to town, to tampines mall and such. I would go to school and play my saxophone.
Here, you can only sit in your darn room and stare at the computer. So, I'm not so ready to delete my games. LOL. Damn. Its so boring. At night, all those scallys come out. Its not safe. You spend 5 mins out there at night, and the possiblity of getting mugged is 90%. That sucks. I can't go out alone. Just yesterday, a woman got stabbed at death near the university. Yea, the univerisity is like 15 mins away from my place. No wonder there were so many police patrols on that day. Saw mounted policemen (on horses) trotting away in pairs. EVEN THE POLICE TRAVEL IN PAIRS IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. Yea i know its a standard procedure that they must follow, but ITS STILL NOT SAFE HERE. AND IT SUCKS.

Whahah. I just have to get adjusted to the lifestyle changes here. I'll be here for 2 years anyways.

CHeers !

Thursday, September 21, 2006

DAMN ! My first post and it'll be a complain.. Well, i ought to complain bout them. My baggage was delayed 2 days. All those while, it was in Dubai. I mean like what the hell. The arabs have my luggage. They got a fetish for a batman luggage or sumtin? Looks like Batman's underpants if ya asked me. Arabs got fetish for batman's briefs. Ooo.

Oh well. Anyways, I have to adjust to the lifestyle here. Nope. They dun have kopitiams and hawker centres. They only have frozen pizza, frozen sherpards pie, pasta and other stuff that you cannot eat on the spot. The only place where you can do that is in restaurants. Sigh. Here's my oversized bag of pasta. Its 3 KG for goodness sake. These ang mos are crazy. Last for darn long i think. Heh. It costs only 1 pound.

Hmm. Besides that, my accomodation is a 15 min walk away from the university. Kinda not too long not too short thing. Moving in here was quite a chore. Many things to get. Pots, pans, detergents, cutlery, groceries, and many many other things. Too many to write. As least I'm not alone. My sis came over with me. She's starting her 3rd year already. Hm. But my room mates are all ang mo. Can't really click with them. Their way of thinking is different from mine. They drink booze. I do not.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE SINGAPOREANS GONE TO?

I can't seem to find any other Singaporeans here. Sigh.
